Looking for a great team for support and some extra motivation?

The Heartbreakin’ Rockstars

Who we are:

We compete against The Wildcats, The Fitness Fanatics and Natural Element every week to see which group can lose the most weight in one week’s time. The idea is that the combination of a competition atmosphere and team support will motivate us to lose more weight!

How it works:

Every week, we have a new thread in the forums (It will be titled The Heartbreakin’ Rockstars 2010 #__ “WEEKLY TITLE”). There you can just talk about whatever is on your mind; we have an open conversation with everyone. Mostly, people stop in to share how their day is going. Then, on Saturday we weigh in, total the weight loss for the group, and send it to the other groups by Sunday morning. The Wildcats let us know who won for the week. If Saturday doesn’t work for you, pick the day of the week you want to weigh-in, keep it consistent. You may choose any “weigh-in day” that works for you as long as it is posted by 8:30 a.m. pacific time Sunday morning.

Obligations:

You MUST check in or at least weigh in, regularly. If you have not been active in the group for two full weeks, or have missed 3 weigh-ins within a 5 week period, you are subjected to being removed from the roster. Although this might sound mean, if we don’t do it, we accumulate people in our team roster who we never hear from and it wastes our time, as well as prevents other people from joining the group if it is at maximum capacity. If you have trouble finding the thread, just let us know and we can email you or post it in our bulletins every week.

Support Roster:

You can be on the “Support Team roster” if the “Official Team Roster is full. What that means is that you can join our team, doing all the team stuff like having a buddy if you wish, weigh-in for ONE TON Challenge, exercise challenge and of course chat with us about your journey. (The Challenges are optional EXCEPT the ONE TON challenge, which is automatic when you weigh-in, so you would need to weigh-in every week, just like normal) The ONLY thing you would not be apart of would be the competition against the other teams because there can only be so many people per Team.
The “Support Roster” of people is basically the “wait list” and when someone leaves we can then move them up as an “official” member for the team competition.
OR if you are not sure you can commit to every week you can be on the Support Team.

Olympics , sore feet, and pictures!!

Went into Vancouver yesterday to check out all the olympic sights and have some fun with 2 of my friends. Left the house at about 1pm and got home at 10:30pm so it was a long day, but it was so worth it. We didn’t have enough time to see everything that we wanted to see, but we got in a lot of the important stuff. We spent about 4.5hrs walking around in Vancouver, the rest was shopping and travel time as we don’t live too close to it. My feet and back were killing me by the end of the night, but it is pain I gladly live with to see the olympic stuff.

We started off getting off at the wrong train station so we had to walk further to get down to the cauldron but that was ok because we wanted to get pictures when it was darker out. We went to the Art Museum where the flower murals is and the beautiful fountain which was just gorgeous. They also had the bobsled there so we waiting in a line to get pictures in the bobsled and a lady came around giving away pins, and a guy gave us free hats! Then another person came around with light up bam bams! It was great!! The olympic clock was also there, so in that one little area we hit a bunch of stuff that we wanted to see. From there we went down to the olympic rings which was a bit of a walk.  We ended up getting the Olympic Rings when they were gold because our lovely womens hockey team won the gold!!! Then we went to find these funky chairs my friend wanted to see, and almost gave up because they weren’t where she thought they should be, but a little bit further down the path we found them and got some great pictures with them. Getting to them was eventful as the ground was so muddy we were sinking into the ground. My poor runners are caked with mud, but those chairs were too awesome not to get pictures with. From there we went back up Granville to check out all the lanterns and find the cut outs to get pictures in them. Then we headed down Robson to Robson Square where they had a singing show and a outdoor ice rink. By then it was time to head home, so we missed the fireworks which was sad, but we had a great day and my feet were happy to be going home.

Here are some pictures of the cool sights down in Vancouver :)

Half way there!

As of this weekend’s weigh in, I am half way to my goal! 22lbs down, 22 more to go! Phew, it was hard getting to this point, but boy was it worth it. I feel so much better, both physically and mentally. I look forward to shedding off the next 22lbs with all of you :)

Mini Goal - Check

I finally hit my mini goal. Got up, got on the scale, and it read 145.0. Woohoo!!! It has taken 4 months, but I did it! Now to achieve the next one :)

I got a new job! Full time, benefits after 90 days, graveyard shifts. Graveyard means my life gets flipped upside down again, going to need to work out a whole new schedule for my exercise and everything else. I don’t care, I can do this! Life seems to be working its way forward again, and I’m glad.

Happy New Year; Weigh in; Resolutions

Happy New Year buddies!! We did it, we all made it through 2009! For me 2009 was a year of struggles, emotionally, medically and financially, but it is over, and I look forward to 2010 being a year of growth for me. I can’t wait to get started on this year!

I weighed in today so I would have a start weight for the year at… 149.4! I made it out of the 150’s!! I couldn’t ask for a better beginning to a hopefully wonderful year. Now to reach my mini goal this month :)

I’m not a big person on Resolutions, but this year I want to change me for the better, and get rid of some bad habits of mine and become a better person.

1. Eat healthy

2. Drink water

3. Exercise - 3 ST days min, 6 cardio days

4. Learn to leave the past in the past

5. Stop swearing

6. Stop gossiping
7.  Be less self conscious - be happy with me

8.  Don’t stress over every little thing

9. Spend less time on the computer

10. Read the Bible every day, and pray.

My Christmas + Pics :)

We had a wonderful Christmas this year, just my immediate family.  My daughter was with her dad for the morning, we got her at 1:30pm so we opened presents when she got home. Money was scarce this year, so we put most of our money towards Lyss this year so us adults didn’t get much, but she did good. One of her presents was scrabble, so that got broken in right away. The four of us had a fun long game of scrabble, I lost hehe. We then had dinner, which was delicious. I had a bit of everything, just portioned it all out. We then moved onto her High School Musical Dance game for the Wii, which turned out to be like DDR but with your arms instead. She loves it so I’m happy. After that, it was relax time and then a well needed sleep. This morning, got up, weighed in and I had lost .4lbs putting me at exactly 150lbs. 5 more till I reach my mini goal! Hope everyone else had a great Christmas :)

Here are some pics of our Christmas:

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all of you. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful day filled with happiness and laughter, and lots of love :)

What a month so far!

It  has been quite a month so far. I quit my job for starters, which was probably not smart as its Christmas time and jobs are scarce lately but for my sanity I had to leave it. I just couldn’t handle the stress, being yelled at constantly, the harrassment. I did what needed to be done, and I have faith that things will work out. I feel so much better after quitting, like a weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Secondly, I am more energetic! I bought EA Sports Active and I love it. So far I have just been doing the cardio parts of it every day, and am going to start doing the rest shortly. Baseball, volleyball, tennis are my favorites of what I have tried so far. I have to venture out of those and try everything else though. I never thought that I would grow to like working out, but I am amazing myself. I have been doing Leslie Samsons Hearth Healthy Walk and am enjoying that also. Got to have a variety or boredom sets in for me.

Thirdly, my relationship with my man is getting better. We had a couple rough patches the last few weeks, but we had a good long talk, and we are working on improving for each other. Compromise is a good thing, something that I haven’t been to good with in my life but I am learning and so is he.

It has been a big growing experience for me since starting this journey, and I am thankful that I have learned so much about myself and about the people around me. I am so happy that I have found this site, and all of  you wonderful people that I have grown to love and admire. This is a big thank you to all of you.

Don’t Quit

Here’s a poem I found that I thought was great and very inspirational. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

When you’ve eaten too much and you can’t write it down,

And you feel like the biggest failure in town.

When you want to give up just because you gave in,

and forget all about being healthy and thin.

So What! You went over your points a bit,

It’s your next move that counts…So don’t you quit!

It’s a moment of truth, it’s an attitude change.

It’s learning the skills to get back in your range.

It’s telling yourself, “You’ve done great up till now.

You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow.”

It’s part of your journey toward reaching your goal.

You’re still gonna make it, just stay in control.

To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,

if you summon the will to get back in the race.

But, often the struggler’s, when loosing their grip,

Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.

And learn too late when the damage is done,

that the race wasn’t over…they still could have won.

Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,

but facing each challenge will help you grow.

Success is failure turned inside out,

the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.

When you’re pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit,

If you bite it, you write it….But don’t you quit!

Ultra sound; Crunches are evil

I went for my second ultra sound yesterday. Took forever but she finally found the gallstone. She couldn’t find it so she left to talk to the radiologist. When she came back, she decided to try one more time, and she found it. She said it looks like it may be stuck in the bile duct. She showed me as she was doing the  ultra sound. It looks like such a innocent thing, all small and round, but yet it is just so evil. I’m just happy that they found it. I was beginning to think something else may be wrong since I have so many symptoms but not able to find a stone. Hopefully all goes well, I go see my surgeon next week so we’ll see what happens then.

I got in 125 crunches yesterday, and it was painful! I don’t think I ever want to do another one ever again lol. Every Wednesday is crunch day, and I dread when Wednesday comes. Today is pushups, triceps and biceps plus cardio of some sort. Haven’t decided yet what I want to tackle for my cardio today. I like to mix it up so I don’t get bored.

Off to go read a bit then back to my pushups! Hope everyone is having a great day :)
